Dr. Nor Azhari: Experienced Urologist in Singapore

Dr. Nor Azhari Bin Mohd Zam is a urologist who graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2001. He completed his urology training at Singapore General Hospital in 2009, where he was awarded the Singapore Urological Association book prize for European Board of Urology (EBU) exams and the College of Surgeons Gold Medal.

Dr Azhari pursued further fellowship training in Laparoscopic Surgery and Endourology (Kidney Stone Treatment) at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Australia, in 2010. He worked at Singapore General Hospital, Department of Urology, where he held the positions of Consultant from 2011 and Senior Consultant from 2016. From February 2016 until November 2023, he served as the Director of Endourology (Urinary Stone Service) at Singapore General Hospital.

Dr Azhari has extensive experience in treating patients with kidney stones, including those with complex kidney stones or those with high-risk medical conditions. He is proficient in various stone removal procedures, such as Extra-corporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL), Ureteroscopy (URS), Renoscopy or Retrograde Intra-renal Surgery (RIRS), as well as Percutaneous Nephrolithomy (PNL) and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for more complex cases. As part of his comprehensive kidney stone treatment, Dr Azhari also provides metabolic evaluation and strategies to prevent further stone recurrences for his patients. His other subspecialty interest lies in laparoscopic surgery for both malignant and benign conditions of the urinary tract, such as kidney cancer and kidney cysts.

While in public service, Dr Azhari was actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. He held Adjunct and Clinical Assistant Professor appointments in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. He was also the Clinical Block Lead for Urology for Lee Kong Chien School of Medicine. He played an active role in training urologists in kidney stone surgery and served as course director and faculty for surgical workshops held locally and overseas.
